General Motors has issued recalls for certain models, including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado, and GMC Yukon.
In a significant development, General Motors (GM) has announced a recall of approximately 877,000 full-size trucks and SUVs in the United States. This recall targets vehicles equipped with the 6.2-liter V-8 engine, which has been identified as potentially defective.
The recall involves several popular vehicles from recent years, including models from 2021 to 2024. These include the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. Also affected are the Chevy Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe. GMC models such as the Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL are also part of this recall.

The problem comes from manufacturing flaws inside key engine parts, such as the crankshaft and connecting rods. These flaws can cause serious engine damage, making the engine lose power or stop working completely. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) started looking into these problems after 39 complaints about engine failures.
What This Means for Vehicle Owners
Owners of affected vehicles should take their cars to authorized GM dealerships for an inspection. If the engine passes, the dealership will replace the oil filter and oil cap and switch to a thicker 0W-40 oil. Engines that do not pass will need repairs or a full replacement.
