Hyundai Recalls 1,508 Ioniq 5 N Units Over Left-Foot Braking Mode Fault!

In a move to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers, Hyundai has issued a recall for its high-performance Ioniq 5 N electric vehicle (EV). This recall affects 1,508 units manufactured between December 2023 and December 2024. The issue arises from a braking fault linked to the vehicle’s unique Left-Foot Braking Mode, a feature designed for high-performance driving.

The Left-Foot Braking Mode is a feature that allows drivers to use the brake and throttle pedals simultaneously, enhancing control during intense racetrack sessions. However, a flaw in the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) control software has been identified. Under certain conditions, this software can depressurize the anti-lock braking system (ABS), leading to a significant reduction in braking performance.

This malfunction poses an increased risk of accidents, especially in high-performance driving scenarios where precise braking is crucial.
