Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator Recalled (2022–2024): Brake Issue Raises Safety Concerns
Ford is recalling 223,315 Ford Expedition SUVs and 50,474 Lincoln Navigator SUVs from model years 2022 to 2024 due to a brake line issue that could impact braking performance. The total number of affected vehicles stands at 273,789, though Ford estimates that only 1% of these vehicles have the defect.
The problem arises from possible damage to the front brake line during final assembly. The brake line may have been bent while the engine was installed, causing it to make contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. This can lead to brake fluid leakage, ultimately affecting braking efficiency.

Ford owners should watch for increased brake pedal travel or changes in pedal feel. If a brake line leak occurs, brake fluid may drain from the master cylinder, triggering a brake warning light on the dashboard.

Next Steps for Owners
Ford will start mailing official recall notices at the end of May. Owners should take their vehicles to authorized Ford or Lincoln dealers for inspection. If the defect is found, the dealer will replace either the faulty brake line or the air cleaner outlet pipe free of charge. For those who have already paid for this repair, Ford may offer reimbursement options.
Previous Ford Recalls on These Models
While Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators have a solid reliability record, they have seen recalls in previous years. A notable case was in 2020 and 2021, when Ford recalled 39,000 of these models due to a fire risk, with at least 16 fires reported and one injury recorded.
