Bertone Nuccio - Ferrari-Powered Up for Sale

The Bertone Nuccio is an ultra-rare concept car with Ferrari F430 power and a bold wedge design.

The automotive world has seen its fair share of experimental designs, but few are as daring and historically significant as the Bertone Nuccio. Crafted as the Italian coachbuilder’s swan song before its 2015 bankruptcy, the Nuccio blends radical aesthetics with Ferrari power, making it a one-of-a-kind collectible now headed to auction.

Bertone, the iconic Italian design house behind legendary models like the Lamborghini Miura and Lancia Stratos, unveiled the Nuccio in 2012 to commemorate its 100th anniversary. Named after Nuccio Bertone, the son of founder Giovanni Bertone, the concept paid homage to decades of automotive artistry.

A Design Inspired by the Future—and the Past

The Nuccio’s dramatic wedge-shaped profile echoes the bold geometry of the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero. While its styling stirred mixed reviews, with some calling it awkward or unconventional, it remains unmistakably unique. The body features leaf-vein-inspired cutouts, an orange roof with geometric patterns, and an integrated full-width headlight that doubles as a brake light—a futuristic safety touch.

What sets the Nuccio apart mechanically is its Ferrari-derived powertrain. Under the hood lies a 4.3-liter V8 from the Ferrari F430, paired with a six-speed automated manual gearbox. The drivetrain delivers 483 horsepower, making this concept more than just a design exercise—it’s fully drivable and performance-ready.

Limited History, Unlimited Intrigue

Only two versions of the Nuccio were built—one static and one functional—unveiled respectively at the Geneva and Beijing Auto Shows in 2012. After Bertone’s financial collapse, the working concept went into private hands and remained hidden for years. Now, with just over 18,000 miles (mostly inherited from the donor Ferrari), the car is expected to fetch up to $585,000 at the upcoming RM Sotheby’s auction.
