Inspired by the 1987 Corolla FX16, this special edition blends classic aesthetics with contemporary styling. However, despite its retro allure, it sticks to its standard performance specs, leaving enthusiasts wondering if this is merely a cosmetic update rather than a true performance boost.

For car enthusiasts, the FX badge carries a rich legacy. The original Corolla FX16, launched in the late 1980s, was a compact hatchback with a punchy twin-cam engine, renowned for its agility and rally-inspired design. Toyota’s attempt to resurrect this nameplate pays homage to its past with subtle design tweaks, though those hoping for a sportier powertrain might be left disappointed.
The Toyota Corolla FX Edition shares the basic design of the standard Corolla Hatchback but has several visual upgrades. It features 18-inch alloy wheels in glossy white, inspired by classic rally cars. A black rear spoiler adds a sporty look without being too bright. The tailgate has a retro-style Corolla badge that gives it a nostalgic feel. Buyers can choose from three colors: Ice Cap White, Inferno Orange, and Blue Crush Metallic.

Toyota plans to launch just 1,600 units of the FX Edition in the US. The model is set to arrive in fall 2025, with pricing details to be announced closer to launch. For reference, the 2025 Corolla Hatchback SE currently starts at $23,780, giving an estimate of where the FX Edition may land.
Toyota’s Corolla FX Edition successfully delivers a visual homage to the beloved FX16, but without performance upgrades, it remains a style-focused package rather than a true enthusiast’s car.
