2026 BMW XM Drops Base Model, Adds Faster Charging and 738-HP Label Variant Only.
BMW has simplified the XM lineup for 2026 by removing the base model. Now, only the 738-horsepower Label version remains. This change confirms the BMW XM as a top-tier luxury SUV with serious performance. It combines bold design with advanced plug-in hybrid tech.

Powertrain and Performance
The 2026 BMW XM is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 and an electric motor, generating a staggering 738 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The V8 alone delivers 577 horsepower, while the transmission-mounted electric motor contributes 194 horsepower. This power is channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission, ensuring all-wheel drive capability.

BMW claims the XM can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, although real-world testing suggests it may be even quicker. The standard top speed is 155 mph, but opting for the M Driver’s Package unlocks an impressive 175 mph limit.
One of the key updates for 2026 is the improved onboard AC charging rate, which has jumped from 7.4 kW to 11 kW. This means the XM’s 26-kWh battery will charge more efficiently, reducing downtime and making its plug-in hybrid system even more practical for daily use.

2026 BMW XM: Exclusive Design Updates
BMW has introduced Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic as a new BMW Individual exterior color, adding a striking aesthetic to the XM’s bold design. The 23-inch alloy wheels now come with a Jet Black finish, providing a sleek contrast. Additionally, BMW has implemented a “Welcome Light Animation”, illuminating the vehicle as owners approach.
The cabin interior introduces three new leather options: Night Blue with Vintage Coffee accents, Black with Vintage Coffee accents, and Silverstone with black accents. The first two choices feature full Merino leather that covers nearly all of the surfaces inside. The Silverstone model, on the other hand, uses an extended Merino leather package with certain areas left without leather.

Pricing and Availability
Production of the 2026 BMW XM will start in August 2025 at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. The official price for the 2025 XM Label has not been announced yet, but it starts at $186,175. The 2026 model is expected to cost a bit more.
