Faster Charging & New NACS Charge Port
Lexus has incorporated a new 11 kW onboard AC charger, significantly reducing Level 2 charging times. Additionally, the 2026 RZ adopts the North American Charging Standard (NACS), aligning with Tesla’s widely used charge port design, ensuring greater compatibility for U.S. buyers.
To enhance cabin refinement, Lexus has integrated additional noise-reducing materials, particularly under the rear seats and in the tonneau cover, creating a quieter ride experience. For added utility, the towing capacity for all-wheel-drive models has been doubled to more than 3,300 pounds, making the RZ a viable option for hauling small trailers or outdoor equipment.

Expected U.S. Arrival & Market Impact
While the updated RZ launches in Europe first, it is expected to hit U.S. dealerships by late 2025. However, its production location in Japan could be influenced by evolving U.S. tariffs and trade policies. With its longer range, more power, and faster charging, the 2026 Lexus RZ EV aims to strengthen Lexus’ position in the luxury EV market and compete with rivals like the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q4 e-tron, and BMW iX.
