2026 BMW R 1300 RS Unleashed: 145 HP Boxer Engine with ShiftCam Tech Powers the Latest Sport Tourer

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the 2026 BMW R 1300 RS, a sophisticated sport-touring motorcycle that blends performance and comfort. As the latest addition to BMW’s Boxer-powered lineup, the R 1300 RS is an evolution of the R 1300 R, featuring aerodynamic enhancements and performance upgrades that cater to long-distance riders and sportbike enthusiasts alike.

Powerful Boxer Engine With Advanced Tech

The heart of the R 1300 RS is BMW’s proven 1,300cc air/liquid-cooled Boxer engine with ShiftCam technology. Delivering an impressive 145 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and 109.9 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm, this powertrain ensures an exhilarating ride, whether you’re carving through mountain passes or cruising down highways. The six-speed gearbox is integrated under the engine for a more compact and efficient power delivery.

Enhanced Aerodynamics for Superior Touring

One of the standout features of the 2026 BMW R 1300 RS is its wind tunnel-tested fairing, which provides better wind protection and aerodynamics compared to the naked R 1300 R model. With a claimed top speed of 152 mph, riders can expect a more refined touring experience without sacrificing performance.

Additionally, BMW has designed the riding position for better front-end feedback by implementing a flatter handlebar. For those who prefer a relaxed posture, the optional comfort handlebar closely mirrors the R 1300 R’s positioning, allowing customization based on individual preferences.

Premium Suspension & Braking for Precision Handling

BMW’s engineering excellence shines through in the RS’s suspension setup, featuring a 47mm inverted fork up front and the Evo Paralever II system at the rear. Riders can choose between the standard Dynamic ESA electronic suspension or the advanced Dynamic Suspension Adjustment upgrade, which fine-tunes damping and spring rates based on selected ride modes.

For confident braking, the R 1300 RS is equipped with twin 310mm rotors and radial-mounted four-piston fixed calipers in the front, alongside a 285mm disc with a two-piston caliper at the rear. Fully Integral ABS Pro ensures optimal braking performance in varied road conditions.
